Hide In Picture (ver 2.1) Abandoned Freeware Hide In Picture is a 32-bit Windows encryption program that lets you hide files (of any type, including binaries or other pictures) within a bitmap (bmp, gif) image. Hidden files are encrypted, dispersed through the image, and password protected (forgetting the cAsE sEnSiTiVe password will prevent hidden file retreival). Be careful NOT to click on "save" if you don't want the original image file overwritten (use "save_as" instead). Color photographs often work best as the storage container, and it is preferable that the stored file be no larger than 40% of the container size (the program will prevent you from hiding a file if the file is too big for the container). While there are utilities to encrypt files on a disk drive, these lack portability. A bitmap container could be emailed, or even publicly displayed on a webpage, without being suspected. NOTE: You do NOT have to install this program. Simply place the executable file in a directory of your choice, and run it from there.
