The Finger User Information protocol (Finger) is a query protocol, that responds by returning dynamic information about the registered system username's connection status, along with any static profile ("plan" file) that the username wishes to reveal about himself. In this regards, Finger information is similar to the member profile information kept on users of Internet Forums and Message Boards (i.e.; last time they logged in, how many posts they have made, contact information, etc.). Note that a regularly updated plan can function much like a "tweet". Just copy & paste the full Finger address into your Finger client, or the rare Browser that understands the URI "finger://". Below are Finger usernames that the public has been given permission to track.
