Ekiga (ver 3.2.7) Freeware Ekiga (formely known as GnomeMeeting) is an open source SoftPhone, Video Conferencing and Instant Messenger application over the Internet. It supports HD sound quality and video up to DVD size and quality. It is interoperable with many other standard compliant softwares, hardwares and service providers as it uses both the major telephony standards (SIP and H.323). Ekiga is a direct replacement for the h.323 "NetMeeting" Video conferencing software that shipped with Win2k, but is no longer supported (or even functional under Win7) by Microsoft. To make a SIP call, the address starts with "sip:". To make a h.323 call, the address starts with "h323:". H.323 allows you to make direct P2P calls to an IP address (one address designed for testing purposes is "h323:71.14.2.158"). Ekiga also runs a free SIP server, that works with any SIP softphone. Visit "https://www.ekiga.net" to get a FREE SIP-Address. NOTE: This is the last Win2k version.
