If you have installed Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003, 
you will be unable to open the new Microsoft Office 2007 file formats.  
These Compatibility Packs will patch your version of Microsoft Office 
so it can open the newer file types such as DOCX, XSLX, and PPTX. 

Install the "Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System" first, then  
if possible (it may refuse, or seem to install even though it harmlessly 
does not), the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack Service Pack 3".
