Cool Reader (ver 3.0.47-3) Freeware ePUB is a new publishing standard targeted at reading books on tablets. It is an alternative to PDF files (in which the text is a photo of the original book), that allows the user to choose their own text fonts and background image. ePUB is commonly chosen by e-book authors who have not published on paper. It is also a popular file format when converting paper books to e-books, and there are hundreds of free *.epub books available from the Internet. The downside to ePUB is that it is a XML encoded document, so it must be opened with a special viewer such as Cool Reader. Cool Reader does -not- require installing. Simply unzip the file to any directory, and launch the executable "cr3.exe". You can add your own TrueType fonts to the folder "fonts", and you own background or texture JPG files to the folders "backgrounds" and "textures". The actual e-book (files ending with the extension ".epub") can be stored anywhere. NOTE: This is the last Win2k version.
